Non-profits and funding sources are falling behind in addressing the needs of the growing numbers of St. Louis area seniors.

Responsibility for senior services in the St. Louis area are fragmented. Most senior services focus on crisis management or deep end services needed after a breakdown. There is limited funding for prevention and early intervention that keeps seniors healthy, active, productive and allows seniors to safely live in their homes.

Issues include gaps in Medicare and Medicaid coverage, access to transportation, proper nutrition, routine home maintenance, quality homemaker/respite services, and adequate care coordination as well as opportunities for socialization, dental and behavioral healthcare.

Seniors Count was founded to educate citizens in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County about the everyday needs for seniors as our population continues to age rapidly.
