Why Seniors Count?

senior aboutSeniorsCount is a community initiative to educate citizens in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and St. Charles County about serious gaps in funding and delivery of services for residents 60 years of age and older who wish to continue to live independently.

We seek to improve the health, nutrition and quality of life for adults 60 and older.

Issues include gaps in:

  • Transportation
  • Nutrition
  • Home maintenance/safety
  • Care coordination
  • Medicare/Medicaid
  • Behavioral health
  • Dental health
  • Socialization
  • Homemaker services
  • Respite services

The number of citizens 85 and older will more than double over the next ten years.

One out of every five senior citizens struggles with hunger.

It costs up to five times as much to live in a nursing home.

Seniors Count was founded to educate citizens in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Charles County about the everyday needs for seniors as our population continues to age rapidly.
